Tony's New Toy

Tony's New Toy

Tony’s “new” car was first registered on 5th November 1981, having been built between August and October 1980. The car was one of the last 421 MGBs to be made and was originally finished in metallic bronze paintwork. The colour change to metallic light blue is not recent, however, the first owner having had the car re-sprayed to match her husband’s Porsche!

In the hands of its second owner the car was fitted with a Ron Hopkinson handling kit, a Maxiflow ported and polished cylinder-head with large valves, Piper HR270 camshaft, Janspeed manifold & Exhaust, 45-DCOE Weber carburettors, Micro-dynamics ignition, 15” splined alloy wheels and a Mountney steering wheel.

After having an MGF for a number of years, Tony decided to get-back-to-basics again, and bought this lovely specimen from another Edinburgh member in June 2006.
