Patsy's GT

Our GT, WFN 11J, was built during the last days of October 1970 and sold to her first owner in Canterbury, on the 5th November 1970. She spent the first 13 years in and around the West End of London and was spotted by Nick (while traffic dodging on his way back from a building site in Acton) up on a plinth, on the forecourt of a second hand car dealer. He couldn't resist a test drive and was suitably impressed! Rushed home to tell the wife who, for once, immediately parted with money (!!) for: 1970 Bronze Yellow MGB GT with 88,000 miles on the clock. Owner - Patsy. Mechanic - Nick!!

Bought for Patsy's 32nd birthday in June 1983. (a condition of marriage in 1973 along with Golden Retriever puppy - got the puppy but had to wait 10 years for the MG!) Brought up to Scotland in March 1984, along with LWB Landrover to start a new life running Insh House Guesthouse. Two years of Highland salt on the roads knocked the bottom out of her and she was pushed into the back of the garage, until a major refurbishment. This was done over two years, as and when we could afford it (Aug 95 - Jun 97). The bodywork was totally rebuilt by Hugh Finnie, Inverness - but she still has original engine and transmission. We kept the original colour. First outing was to Doune in 1997 when we joined Edinburgh MGOC. Since then only comes out April - October, except for our three major trips abroad.

Nov 2001 - Five weeks and 5,500 miles round Spain and Portugal, then back through France.

Nov 2003 - Three weeks and 2,100 miles round Belgium, France (via Le Mans and the Bugatti Museum) and back through Luxembourg, Ardennes and South Holland.

Nov 2007 - Five weeks and 4,500 miles down to and round Italy for The Mille Miglia 50 years on. Also visited the Ferrari factory before heading back through Italian and French Rivieras. The photo was taken at Maronella on 29/11/07 and  she has done 149,700 miles and is still going strong.
