1974 MG Midget - RSG 894M

(Formerly 13 FS)
This MG Midget was bought new by David Hall of Edinburgh who competed with the car in races, trials, and autotests. David’s successes included the MG International California Cup, at Silverstone.
Subsequently fellow MG Club member Hugh Chalmers of Edinburgh bought the car (you may remember Hugh racing the Ecurie Ecosse Chevette at Ingliston race track), but only used the Midget for fun drives.
The Midget came to its current owner, Andy Baillie of Loanhead, in September 2002, out of a chance encounter at a Goodwood Revival meeting where Hugh was competing in the Formula Junior Single-seater Historic Race.
This year the car is competing in the “County Garage Challenge”. This series covers six rallies, one hillclimb, one autotest, one sprint, and one trial. So far it is one of the leading cars, with the help of navigator Graham Couser.
The car’s specification includes :
- Cooper ‘S’ cylinder head;
- Over-bored cylinders;
- Branched exhaust;
- Low-ratio limited-slip-differential;
- Anti-tramp bars.
