Andy's "frogeye" midget!

That’s not an MG Midget! Oh, yes it is - the log book says so. It is really a ‘Healey Frog-eye’ built on the Isle of Wight by the Frog-eye Company in 1990 - to which Geoffrey Healey was a consultant. No doubt you know he was largely responsible for the original Austin Healey Sprite, from which the Midget Mk I and Sprite Mk II were developed. The ‘Healey Frog-eye’ is built using any Spridget as a base - in theory using many of the original parts. For example, the engine, gearbox, front suspension, back axle, fuel tank and interior.
However, my car was factory built using 90% new parts, at a cost of £14,200. This car has a galvanised chassis, designed by the same man that designed Richard Noble’s Land Speed Record car. It has torsion bar rear suspension, disc front brakes, 1293cc engine and a super D glassfibre body, complimented by wire wheels. So there you have it, a Frog-eye with improved performance and no rust problems!
